Building the future of senior care in Rwanda
Building a Future Where Every Senior Is Cared For
Join Harmony Senior Life Care Service Center Foundation in our mission to establish a compassionate, modern senior care facility in Kigali, Rwanda.
Established in 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda. Nothing is built yet — that is what we are raising support for.
Fundraising and pre-construction planning
The facility described here has not been built. We are raising the support to make it real.
Proposed Location
Ndera Sector, Kigali
A four-hectare site in Gasabo District, chosen to be reachable for families across the city.
Current Stage
Fundraising & Planning
Pre-construction. Nothing has been built, and no services are operating yet.
Our Vision
Nine Planned Care Services
One integrated model, from assisted living through to bereavement support for families.
Welcome to Harmony
A foundation built around one conviction: ageing deserves care
Harmony Senior Life Care Service Center Foundation was established to create something Kigali does not yet have enough of — a dedicated place where older people receive skilled, dignified, around-the-clock care, and where their families are supported rather than left to manage alone.
We are a foundation at the beginning of that work. The facility described across this website is a plan, not a building. What exists today is a clear vision, a detailed service model, a proposed site in Ndera Sector, and a founder determined to see it through.
What we need now are partners: donors, sponsors, healthcare institutions, NGOs, and government bodies willing to help turn a carefully considered plan into a place that cares for people.
We are not asking you to support a building. We are asking you to support the people who will one day live in it.
Our Mission and Vision
Why Harmony exists, and where it intends to go
Our mission
To enhance the health and well-being of elderly people through compassionate, high-quality, and culturally sensitive care services — delivered as one integrated model rather than nine separate institutions.
Our vision
To become a leading centre for compassionate, innovative, and dignified care that enhances the quality of life for seniors, and peace of mind for their families, in the East African region and beyond.
Dignity first
Every intended service is designed around the person receiving it — their privacy, their preferences, their history, and their right to be treated as an adult.
Professional care
We intend to staff Harmony with qualified nursing, clinical, and therapeutic professionals, and to pursue every licence and accreditation the work requires.
Family partnership
Families are not visitors to be managed. We intend to build visiting spaces, communication, and support around their involvement.
Transparency
We publish what we know and label what we do not. Nothing on this site describes a service, partnership, or figure as settled unless it is.
Why This Project Matters
The gap Harmony is being built to close
Rwandan families have always cared for their elders. The foundation's view is that love alone is increasingly being asked to do work that also requires training, equipment, and time.
Specialised facilities are scarce
Families seeking residential care that combines nursing, rehabilitation, and dementia support have very few places to turn. Harmony is intended to be one of them.
Caregiving collides with working life
Adult children increasingly live and work apart from their parents. Daily care becomes a choice between a job and a loved one — a choice no family should face alone.
Dementia needs more than goodwill
Memory loss calls for secure environments and specifically trained staff. Without them, families manage risk at home with no support.
Comfort at the end of life is overlooked
Palliative and bereavement care are rarely available as a continuous service. Harmony intends to provide care that does not stop at the hardest moment.
Our Proposed Senior Care Facility
A place designed for ageing, from the ground up
Harmony is planned as a purpose-built campus on a four-hectare site in Ndera Sector, Gasabo District — not a converted house, but an environment designed around mobility, safety, clinical care, and community.
- Around fifty accessible residential rooms, single-storey or lift-served
- On-site clinical and nursing support areas
- Dedicated rehabilitation and therapy spaces
- A secure, calm wing intended for memory care
- Shared dining, gardens, and gathering spaces
- Comfortable rooms for families to visit and stay
Our Nine Planned Services
One place, the full arc of later-life care
Harmony's service model covers nine areas, grouped into four kinds of care. Each is a planned service: none is operating today, and none will be offered until the facility is built, staffed, and licensed.
Residential Care
Long-term living arrangements for older people who need daily support, delivered in accommodation designed for safety, privacy, and independence.
Assisted Living
Residential accommodation with daily support for older people who no longer wish to live alone but do not need continuous medical care.
Memory Care
A secure, calm, specifically staffed environment for residents living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other cognitive decline.
Clinical and Therapeutic Care
Professional medical, nursing, and therapy services intended to be delivered on site by qualified staff.
Skilled Nursing and Medical Care
Clinical nursing care on site, for residents with chronic conditions, complex medication needs, or recovery after hospital treatment.
Rehabilitation
Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and recovery programmes to help older people regain strength, movement, and independence.
Hospice and Palliative Care
Comfort-focused care for residents with advanced or life-limiting illness, alongside support for the people closest to them.
Wellbeing and Community Care
Preventive, social, and outreach services — including care that travels to older people who remain in their own homes.
Health and Wellness
Preventive health, nutrition, gentle fitness, and social engagement intended to keep residents well rather than only treat illness.
Home Care and Community-Based Rehabilitation
Care that travels: planned visiting support and rehabilitation for older people who remain in their own homes in the surrounding community.
End-of-Life Dignity and Family Support
Care that does not stop at the hardest moment, and practical support for the families who are grieving.
Mortuary Services
Dignified, respectful care of the deceased, provided on site so that families are not left to arrange it under pressure.
Funeral and Bereavement Support
Practical help with funeral arrangements and continuing emotional support for families after a death.
Our Development Roadmap
How Harmony gets built
A realistic path from foundation to opening. We publish the sequence rather than dates, because dates depend on funding we are still raising.
- Current stagePhase 1
Foundation establishment and planning
Establishing the foundation and preparing the project so that it can be funded, approved, and built. This is work that must be solid before anything physical happens.
- Current stagePhase 2
Fundraising and partnership building
The stage the foundation is in today: seeking the financial support and institutional partners needed to move the project into design and construction.
- NextPhase 3
Design, costing, and approvals
Converting the facility concept into professional architectural and engineering design, a construction cost, and the regulatory permissions the project requires.
- ProposedPhase 4
Construction
Building the facility in phases, so that completed sections can be fitted out and brought into use as funding allows.
Our Intended Community Impact
What changes if Harmony is built
The foundation's intended impact reaches past the people who will live at Harmony to the families, workers, and institutions around them.
Dignified later life
Older adults gain a place where care is skilled and unhurried, and where their needs are anticipated rather than improvised.
Relief for family caregivers
Families gain a trustworthy option — and the ability to stay in work, education, and health while their relative is well cared for.
Skilled local employment
Operating Harmony is intended to create nursing, caregiving, therapy, catering, and facilities roles, with training pathways for local staff.
A stronger care network
We intend to work alongside hospitals, clinics, and community health workers so that older patients have somewhere to go after discharge.
A model others can use
By documenting what we build and what it costs, we intend to make the next facility easier for someone else to start.
Care that reaches outward
Planned home care and community-based rehabilitation would extend support to older people who remain in their own homes.
Help Us Bring Harmony to Life
This is the stage where support matters most
Harmony is at the point in its life where contributions do not top up an existing operation — they determine whether the facility is built at all.
What support does at this stage
- Funding moves the project from planning toward design, approvals, and construction
- Institutional partners bring clinical expertise, training, and credibility
- In-kind support — land, materials, equipment, professional services — reduces what we must raise in cash
- Advocacy introduces Harmony to the people and organisations who can help
Partnership Opportunities
Harmony will be built by more than one organisation
We are seeking working relationships with NGOs, businesses, healthcare providers, and government institutions — partnerships of expertise and delivery, not only of funding.
Businesses
Corporate sponsorship
For companies, Harmony offers something unusually tangible: a defined, physical part of a facility that will serve older people for decades. We are happy to scope a sponsorship around what your organisation actually wants to contribute.
NGOs and institutions
NGO and institutional partnership
We are seeking partners whose contribution is expertise and delivery capacity as much as funding — organisations working in ageing, health, social protection, or community development.
Healthcare organisations
Healthcare partnership
Harmony is intended to work alongside the existing health system rather than apart from it. Hospitals, clinics, and professional bodies can help shape the clinical side of the facility from the start.
Government and public bodies
Government and institutional collaboration
The foundation seeks to work transparently with the public institutions responsible for health, social protection, and local development in Kigali, and to align the project with national priorities for older people.
Meet Our Founder
MUREKATETE Jacqueline
Ndera Sector, Gasabo District, Kigali, Rwanda
Harmony Senior Life Care Service Center Foundation was founded by MUREKATETE Jacqueline, who leads the project from planning through to the facility's intended opening.
The foundation grew out of a straightforward observation: older people in and around Kigali deserve care that is both loving and skilled, and families should not have to assemble it alone. Harmony is her answer to that gap — a plan carried from a business case toward a building.
She works directly with prospective donors, sponsors, and institutional partners, and welcomes conversations with anyone who wants to understand the project in detail.
